Is BarterBai free to use?
Yes, BarterBai is completely free to download and use. There are no listing fees, transaction fees, or hidden charges.
How does the AI listing work?
When you take a photo of your item, our AI analyzes the image to generate a title, description, estimated market value, and category. You can edit any of these before publishing.
What is a match?
A match happens when you like someone's item and they like one of yours. Once matched, you can propose a swap — optionally with a cash difference if the items aren't equal in value. You can also browse the inventories of anyone who liked one or more of your items, and propose a swap back from there.
Can I also sell items for money?
Yes! While BarterBai is built for trading, you can also set a price and accept bids from buyers who want to purchase your item outright.
How does location-based discovery work?
BarterBai uses your location to show items nearby. You can filter by distance (up to 10km) to find trades in your area. Your approximate location appears as a pin on the community map so neighbors can find you — you can turn this off in Settings.
Is my data safe?
We use Clerk for secure authentication and never store sensitive credentials. Your location is used for nearby discovery and shown on the community map to other members within 10km, unless you opt out in Settings.
